Moving further as part of its probe into alleged coal pilferage scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday served a notice on Kolkata-based businessman Randhir Barnwal asking him to appear before the agency investigators for questioning in the case.
On Friday, the CBI in joint search operations with the Enforcement Directorate officials had raided multiple properties of the businessman in Kolkata in connection with the coal pilferage scam case.
Sources in the agency said many bureaucrats and politicians allegedly received bribes through this businessman in relation to the pilferage.
Earlier, the CBI had quizzed Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee's wife and sister-in-law in connection with the ongoing probe into the case.
