New Delhi, July 28
As another Covid-19 induced lockdown comes to an end on July 31, the government is working on formulating new guidelines to give further relaxations. Sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) indicated that cinema halls and gyms may be allowed to open with specified standard operating procedures (SOPs).
They, however, said during Unlock 3.0, restrictions on opening schools and resuming Metro services may continue. Sources said on the issue of opening schools, the Human Resources Development (HRD) Ministry continued to engage in consultations with the states and feedbacks were being sought from parents and nothing conclusive had been arrived at.
After consulting cinema hall owners, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has proposed the reopening of entertainment facilities across the country to the MHA. Cinema hall owners are in favour of reopening theatres with 50 per cent seating capacity. However, the ministry has suggested reopening theatres with 25 per cent seating initially and following all the social distancing protocols, they said.
