A Bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan asked the Maharashtra Government to file a copy of the chargesheet before it for perusal. The Supreme Court on Thursday extended till August 31 the protection from coercive action given to TV news anchor Amish Devgan in connection with multiple FIRs registered against him for his alleged remarks on Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in one of his shows.

On behalf of the Centre, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the court should consider if any policemen were involved in the offence and if there was any dereliction of duty attracting disciplinary action.
